Title : Senior Financial Analyst - Philanthropy

In this role, you will :
Responsibility 1 - Ongoing Accounting and Financial Monitoring
- Reviews General Ledger identifies errors or omissions and prepares correcting / adjusting journal entries as required.
- Assists stakeholders and budget holders in day-to-day finance requests, including answering questions and providing finance related recommendations.
- Reviews salaries & benefit reports and payroll recoveries and makes necessary adjustments to correct errors if any.
- Updates staffing projections based on monthly payroll review.
- Supports internal and external audits as needed.
- Maintains process documentation.
- Proactively identifies process improvements opportunities and recommends courses of action.
- Assists the Senior Finance Manager in preparing ad-hoc reports and analysis as required.
Responsibility 2 - Monthly, Quarterly and Year-end Reporting
- Leads the month-end process for Philanthropy and ensures all deadlines are met.
- Prepares and posts month-end journal entries.
- Prepares/produces and distributes monthly statements, reconciliations, and schedules.
- Reviews monthly reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Acts as the first point of contact for stakeholders and assists with any queries arising with respect to monthly results.
- Analyzes results and provides explanation of variances to budget by gathering information from stakeholders.
- Performs duties within tight deadline.
Responsibility 3 - Yearly Budgeting
- Prepares and distributes yearly budget templates.
- Works directly with stakeholders to provide advice and answer any questions regarding the yearly budgeting cycle.
- Compiles completed templates and prepares related annual budget submission entries into the relevant budget database and reporting system.
- Analyzes budgets and trends, ensures budget guidelines are respected, and flags risky accounts and assumptions to senior management.
Responsibility 4 - Data Modeling and Visualization
- Create and update financial models for various situation as required.
- Design, maintain and improve PowerBi dashboards for financial and operational reporting.
- Assist Finance team on data modeling and visualization.
What we are looking for :
- Completion of a university degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with a concentration in accounting.
- 4-7 years of job-related experience.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting.
- Working knowledge and experience with an accounting system for medium-large enterprises.
- Advanced Excel skills and focused on leveraging technology to increase efficiency.
- Proactive approach with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Time management and organizational skills, reflected in the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues and communicate effectively with senior management.
- Ability to work remotely both independently with minimal supervision, and collaboratively within a team.
- Considered an asset:
- Experience with D365, Solver Bi360, Smartsheet, and/or Power BI.
- Experience analyzing and visualizing large amount of data.
- Working towards, or completion of, a chartered professional accounting designation.
- Previous experience in non-for-profit organization.
- Fluency in French.
