The Opportunity

Our focus on safely delivering cleaner and reliable energy has meant cloud technology and the number of SaaS solutions across Emera has grown dramatically. This change will continue and requires new approaches to how we operate, manage and govern those systems. To build this future, the Emera Digital Team has created a brand-new position for a Manager, Cloud Applications to help transform the future of being digital at Emera and its operating companies across Canada, The US and The Caribbean.

Reporting to the Vice President, Digital Technology, you will lead the development?and oversight of Software as a Service (SaaS) governance, operating models and standards ensuring alignment with business goals by driving value for customers through innovation, operational excellence, and enterprise-wide digital adoption.

About the role

You're a natural at bringing leaders together and can leverage your insight to bring Emera's Digital strategy to life. You see being digital as more than just technology. You are agile and passionate about how value can be delivered through your knowledge of cloud-based technologies. You are ready to join a small-but-mighty team and are keenly interested in broadening your view of the business, and not afraid to build something from the ground up.

This role will lead the creation and implementation of a new SaaS governance and operating model for all operating companies and develop a plan to ensure ongoing value creation through continuous advancement of the model and its associated standards. Some of these tasks will include:

  • Working with stakeholders across Emera to close gaps in current enterprise processes to bring integrity, transparency and efficiency for establishing and operating SaaS solutions.

  • Working with stakeholders to establish a best-in-class technology asset management practice and develop and maintain SaaS operating standards

  • Implement a communication and change management plan to ensure awareness and adherence to governance & operating frameworks, standards, and best practices.

  • Oversee the SaaS portfolio across Emera Operating Companies, including risk assessment, vendor management, and contract renewals.

  • Drive cost optimization efforts related to SaaS licensing, procurement, and usage.

  • Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and governance policies, working with security and legal teams.

  • Monitor performance, develop KPIs, and provide regular updates to leadership on SaaS performance and compliance.

  • Provide ongoing training and support to business units to drive incremental value.

Previous relevant experience could take many forms. Key skills include an ability to drive change, strong stakeholder engagement, confidence in approaching digital solutions and working effectively between technology and operations teams. Important attributes are your thirst for knowledge, speed to learn, and a drive to improve our operations.

Professional Experience:

  • College Certificate or Bachelor's Degree:?Information Technology, Human Resources, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.

  • ?Technical proficiency with cloud-based services

  • Familiarity with policy and standards development and implementation

  • Experience with application support models

  • Understanding of risk management (cyber, vendor, data)

  • Experience enabling change impacting organizational people, process and technology

  • Experience developing and managing stakeholder engagement
