Responsabilités

What you will be doing…

As a Manager, School of Technology and Environment, you will provide leadership and direction for developing and stewarding sector-specific programming and strategies.

As a key member of the School Leadership Team, you will:

  • Provide strategic advice and expertise to the Dean contributing to the overall direction and implementation of School programming, priorities and vision.
  • Collaborate with Academic Chairs, Faculty and staff to provide leadership for School and College priorities ensuring quality program delivery and positive learning experiences.
  • Provide leadership in supporting the development of pathways for under-represented and marginalized populations.
  • Provide leadership in all aspects of program and curriculum development, evaluation and maintenance. You will develop and maintain relationships with key external (sector, professional associations, government) and internal stakeholders, thereby ensuring our programming mix is current, relevant and meeting the evolving needs of industry and community.
  • Leverage relationships to identify new programming and project opportunities for the School of Technology and Environment across Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs, as well as Continuing Education, Customized Training and across multiple delivery modes.
  • You may also develop and lead Applied Research and innovation initiatives, which contribute to the growth and development of the key industry sectors in the province.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree in a field related to the School of Technology and Environment or Adult Education. Programming encompasses building, civil, environmental, electrical, electronics, and mechanical engineering technologies; environmental sustainability; GIS and data analytics; information technology; natural resources; and renewable energies.
  • Master's degree in Education would be considered an asset.
  • Project Management designation would be considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of 7 years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational and leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership of a results-oriented team, preferably in a post-secondary educational environment.
  • Experience developing and managing strategy, plans and projects.
  • Proven track record in building internal and external relationships.
  • Specific areas or required demonstrated experience include analytical skills, strong technical writing and communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
  • Occupational post-secondary leadership experience with adult education program development and program management would be considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding and application of Adult Education principles.
  • Ability to establish respectful working relationships across all groups and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated passion for learning and views challenges as opportunities for learning and continuous improvement.
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking with developing and managing projects.
  • Demonstrated interest in learning new skills and technologies.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with demonstrated record of dealing with sensitive issues in an innovative, professional way.
  • Ability to direct, influence and manage several functions simultaneously with a demonstrated practice of promoting collaboration and collegiality.
  • Excellent planning skills and demonstrated expertise in innovative, creative problem solving.
  • Ability to operate independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-maill, Planner, PeopleSoft, MS Power Business Intelligence, Sharepoint, Brightspace, MS Teams.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
  • You have experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation.

  • Frequent travel within Nova Scotia will be required.
