As one of Dartmouth's longest-standing law firms, Weldon McInnis has been proudly serving clients since 1955. Built on a tradition of dedication and client-centered service, the firm has earned a reputation for delivering high-quality legal counsel to a broad and sophisticated clientele across Nova Scotia and beyond. Weldon McInnis offers comprehensive legal services, combining practical solutions with personalized support across a wide range of practice areas, including property, family, personal injury, civil litigation, corporate-commercial, and criminal law.

The firm is recruiting its next Chief Operating Officer (COO), a pivotal leadership role for a strategic, hands-on professional with strong financial oversight and operational expertise. This is an exceptional opportunity for a solutions-oriented individual who brings sound judgment, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a passion for fostering collaboration in a valuesdriven environment.

Reporting to the Partners through the Management Committee, the COO will be a trusted advisor and key member of the leadership team, responsible for the effective oversight of the firm's financial, administrative, and operational functions, including finance, human resources, information technology, and facilities. With a collaborative leadership style grounded in respect and accountability, the COO will ensure that people, processes, and systems are aligned to support the firm's strategy, enable client service excellence, and drive long-term value. In addition, the COO will play a key role in upholding the responsibilities of operating within a selfregulated profession, liaising regularly with the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society to ensure compliance with evolving professional standards and regulations.

Adept in strategic financial management, the COO will oversee fiscal planning, budgeting, reporting, risk management, and compliance, delivering clear insights to guide business decisions. They will also lead initiatives in IT modernization, HR and talent strategy, and operational improvement initiatives, championing innovation and change while cultivating a strong internal culture. This is an opportunity to help shape the next chapter of an evolving community-anchored law firm with deep roots and a bright future.

The ideal candidate holds an undergraduate degree in finance or accounting and a CPA designation, with at least seven years of senior leadership experience in financial and operational management. Experience in a professional services environment is preferred. They are a resilient, relationship-focused leader and strong communicator with a proven ability to lead through change. With a focus on strategic execution and organizational effectiveness, the successful candidate will bring integrity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to the firm's continued success and community impact.
