What you will be doing:

As the Accounting and Onboarding Support Officer, you will contribute to the overall success of Real Estate Secured Lending (RESL) in Canada by ensuring that individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in alignment with the team's business strategies and objectives. You will also ensure that all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Manage a central intake inbox and provide timely, effective accounting and onboarding support to employees in the Home Financing Solutions (HFS) and Scotia Mortgage Authority (SMA) sales channels.
  • Prepare and submit business-related invoices and employee expense reports, liaising with Global Payment Operations (GPO) to ensure timely payments and proper expense coding.
  • Ensure all business-related expenses are accurately tracked and documented, assisting in the creation of regular reporting for leadership review.
  • Analyze existing accounting and onboarding policies and processes to identify efficiencies and improve the employee experience.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in daily activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations within their respective areas, in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adherence to day-to-day business controls to meet obligations related to operational compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Prior experience in a back-office support role, including managing a central inbox
  • Previous experience using internal expense systems to process payments (e.g., SmartBuy, Payment Request Centre (PRC))
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Proven communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • A strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures
