Contributes to the overall success of Corporate Security in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Security Operations Centre (SOC) is the initial point of contact for the effective oversight and triage of all incidents or events reported to Corporate Security Canada for investigation. The Assistant Manager will triage, evaluate and action incoming requests for service in an appropriate and efficient manner. This role is accountable for supporting the strategic priorities of Corporate Security's framework, including accountability for giving and seeking advice, guidance, and direction on a range of issues and initiatives and contributing to Corporate Security's high-performance culture.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank and other FI network relationships, systems, and knowledge.

• Conduct operational activities related to the detection, intake, analysis and response to incidents received from internal and external sources, ensuring incidents are prioritized and escalated appropriately and efficiently. Assists the team to assess risk and provide effective risk mitigation initiatives during the intake triage process and provides guidance where required.

• Recognizes and keeps up to date on fraud, loss events, or other trends as they occur or are reported to the Security Operations Centre, ensuring matters are referred to leadership where required.

• Utilizes and maintains standards, processes, and procedures to ensure a high standard in incident management, information retrieval, documentation and escalation to teams internal and external to Corporate Security.

• Utilizes and maintains systems used in the prevention, detection, analysis, and response to incidents which impact, or have the potential to impact, Scotiabank employees, clients or assets.

• Assists Management with team support, case review, and file escalation as required.

• Manage personal development to ensure knowledge and skills relative to the Assistant Manager's role is continually enhanced by:

o Regularly reviewing internal Scotiabank resources for updates to policies and procedures
o Utilizing me@scotiabank to complete compulsory courses to meet regulatory and Scotiabank requirements and to complete optional courses to enhance/develop knowledge and skills relative to their role.
o Keeping apprised of initiatives and trends related to their current role.

• Provides support to the Security Operations Centre as required or as directed by Management.

• Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

• Develop and manage employees by creating a challenging and motivating work environment, provide appropriate training, performance assessments and career guidance.

• Maintain a team environment and spirit that enhances both team and individual performance.

• Develop the annual performance objectives for team members and track performance against goals/objectives, and report regularly to the Manager, Security Operations.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

• University/college courses in business law or law enforcement or equivalent training and experience.
• Thorough knowledge of investigative practices, methods, and enforcement strategies.
• Working knowledge of both criminal and civil processes and the rules surrounding the admissibility of evidence preferred but not required.
• Working knowledge of Bank IT applications, systems, and security controls.
• 2-3 years practical experience investigating financial crimes, including fraud and due diligence investigations.
• Working knowledge of Canadian Retail Banking products and services
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Work, Excel, PowerPoint
• French language skills are an asset.
• Industry standard credentials (CFE, CAMS, CFCI, etc.) an asset
