Apple Valley Foods Inc. is a food manufacturer located in Kentville, Nova Scotia with sales throughout North America. The company is currently seeking a Research & Development Technician to work in a fast paced, progressive and growing environment. This is a full-time position.

Reporting to the RD Manager, the successful candidate will:

· Work in a fast paced environment under tight deadlines

· Strong knowledge in MS Word and Excel

· Experience using ESHA Food Processor or Genesis software is an asset

· Comfortable working in a kitchen environment, previous baking experience is an asset

· Able to effectively prioritize projects and schedules, attention to detail

· Self-directed and able to research new topics

· Effectively communicate with Managers, Supervisors and all employees

· Work on projects as assigned by the RD Manager

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

· Post-secondary degree or diploma in Nutrition, Science, or related field with experience in Food Analysis, Sensory Evaluation, Food Product Development.

· Strong understanding of microbiology and it's relationship to food safety

· Effective problem solver, organized, team player

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
