Position Overview:
As a subject matter expert in packaging, the Packaging Analyst will be required to support the growth, quality and productivity within the business. The role requires the analysis of returns, sales, damage, loss prevention, and productivity data to determine opportunities that generate and drive packaging related initiatives. Additionally, the role will direct corrective actions with vendors and 3rd party service providers to resolve packaging issues. Lastly, the role will act as the liaison between internal partners, vendors and 3rd service providers to ensure consistency with packaging standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Brand and Product Development
- Create collection names and manage the approval process through merchandising, legal, and brand
- Monitor the customer care numbers used on packaging
- Work with the brand manager to organize activities to drive brand awareness in stores
Packaging Engineering and Sustainability
- Analyzing returns, sales, damage, loss prevention, and productivity data to generate and drive initiatives to throughout the supply chain processes. Role will require collaborating with multiple internal/external stakeholders within merchandising, supply chain, store operations, logistics, vendors, and 3rd party service providers to execute on feasible projects. 10% of time
- Advise and consult on packaging best practices to enhance business performance. Provide direction to vendors on Home Depot and industry packaging standards with regards to display standards, PDQ trays, QPs, etc.- 5% of time
- Provide direction to vendors and 3rd party service providers on testing protocols and work through deficiencies to ensure compliance – 10% of time
- Collaborate with the Atlanta Packaging Engineering team to gain visibility to US activity with regards to new initiatives and categories where corrective actions are being taken to drive alignment
- Drive corrective actions with vendors and testing companies to address products with high returns and/or high damaged markdowns – 10% of time
- Manage the packaging and GMI processes within the onboarding process for all import and/or private branded product to ensure all products meet the Home Depot requirements as they relate to transport testing, colour consistency, print quality, and packaging integrity – 5% of time
- Work with the Cross Functional team to ensure alignment on shipping requirements, messaging and in-store signage
- Provide packaging support for merchant driven new product introductions.
- Initiating, planning, executing, and controlling packaging projects to deliver departmental strategic objectives. –10%
- Drive initiatives to assist in achieving Home Depot sustainability goals through packaging changes
- Collaborate with Home Depot US packaging team to ensure we're aligned on packaging improvements as they relate to sustainability – 50% of time
Packaging Artwork
- Review packaging intake forms against regulatory and Home Depot brand requirements prior to artwork creation
- Review and approval of all artwork in digital approval software (FLOW + HDC internal studio)
- Provide guidance to Visual Merchandising to help align POP signage to brand standards
- Audit of in store packaging against what was onboarded and approved

Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles

Minimum Education:
- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree/diploma or combination of equivalent work experience in a field of study related to the job.

- 5 years of packaging experience with consumer products, preferably in a retail environment
