Role Description

As the Senior Engineer/Project Manager, your role will include a combination of project, people, and client relationship management for unique engineering design projects, which often involve retrofits and rehabilitation efforts at existing dams and hydroelectric projects. This position provides you with an excellent opportunity to help a nationally known firm grow an already-established presence in Canada.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects focused on hydropower, dam safety, and water infrastructure from planning through design and construction.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, providing technical guidance and project oversight to ensure successful delivery of solutions that meet client goals.
  • Overseeing technical design efforts, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, to develop and implement practical engineering solutions to complex challenges in renewable energy and water resources.
  • Conducting site visits and support construction activities, providing field engineering services and liaising with contractors and clients.
  • Fostering and maintaining strong client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and a deep understanding of their operational and regulatory needs.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior engineers and project staff, promoting knowledge sharing and technical excellence across the team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BS, BSc, or BEng) in Structural, Geotechnical, Mechanical, Civil, or Hydraulics & Hydrology Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience, with demonstrated expertise in planning, design, and construction support for infrastructure or hydropower-related projects.
  • Proven experience managing large, multi-disciplinary projects in the renewable energy or water sectors.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a client-focused mindset.
  • Experience working on-site with clients and contractors during construction phases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience in dam safety assessments and design or rehabilitation of dams and hydroelectric facilities.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks related to dam safety and hydropower infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships and work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

Additional Requirements

  • Must possess authorization to work in Canada and be able to acquire authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be willing to travel periodically and possess a valid driver's license.
