Qualifications and responsibilities (includes, but not limited to)
The successful candidate will be required to be a team player and to safely operate the MBK machine that makes reinforcement cages for pipe and manhole products. A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and flexibility with schedules are required to achieve operational goals, including set productivity targets.
The successful candidates will also:
- Work in a safety sensitive environment
- Be able to read and understand construction drawings
- Take pride in the quality of work, including maintaining 5S shop requirements
- Be a self-starter, reliable, punctual, and work with minimum supervision
- Pay attention to detail and be organized
- Be able to work efficiently within a team
- Assist with the creation of the production schedules and be able to determine the best order for making the cages for all customers with minimal changeovers and disruptions to production teams
- Complete the installation of spacer wheels on single cages
- Safely operate the 2 tonne overhead travelling crane in the wire storage area to receive new deliveries and load coil and leg wire into the MBK machine
- Learn and complete daily routine machine maintenance tasks and changeovers when required
- Operate a forklift to take wires outside for storage when required
- Be able to lift up to 50 lb
- Other duties, as required based on business needs
The hours of operation are per the collective agreement. Flexibility to work overtime and weekends is required based on the business needs. This is a position that requires regular and frequent overtime and requires the successful applicant to stay until the job is done.
