Job Summary:Reporting to the Provincial Manager of Learning, the primary purpose of this position is to facilitate, design, deliver and evaluate a wide range of learning and development initiatives for employees, physicians, volunteers, and affiliating students of NL Health Services in the Central Zone. Facilitation and/or delivery of clinical skills programs (ACLS, PALS, and BLS) will be required. This position ensures a positive introduction to the organization for newcomers, applies adult learning principles to facilitate ongoing learning that will maximize employee competencies and organizational outcomes, and works collaboratively with others to provide learning support services throughout the organization. This is a regional position with primary services provided to the James Patton Memorial Hospital, Gander. Services could be offered beyond this hospital and Central Zone, in partnership with other zones, to support province-wide learning initiatives.

•Lifting and moving of training related equipment occurs regularly.
•Sitting is required regularly to operate a computer; standing and walking are regularly required to conduct educational sessions/presentations.
•Visual concentration is required to conduct research, enter and retrieve information from a variety of databases, to demonstrate technical clinical equipment, to observe nurses to evaluate effectiveness of learning or to evaluate correct performance of a task, etc.
•Repetition requiring alertness is evident when repeating the same presentation; when performing data entry to ensure accurate information for reporting purposes, etc.
Job Qualifications:
•Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary nursing education program with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.
•Practicing licensure with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (ARNNL) is required.
•Advanced education qualifications as an educator, with preference given to masters level preparation in either nursing, or education with an adult or vocational education focus. Minimum of 1 (one) year recent experience as an adult educator including experience with adult education course design, development and evaluation in a health care setting is required.
•Ability to provide advice to internal stakeholders on adult learning theory, educational design strategy, training delivery mechanisms and time/cost models associated with such.
•A minimum of five (5) years’ experience (within the last 7 years) in nursing is required.
•Demonstrated exceptional oral/written communication, Knowledge of program development and evaluation Demonstrated computer proficiency (PC applications), teaching/ presentation skills in adult environment, leadership, research, self-motivated creativity.
•Demonstrated skills in areas of leadership, team development and support, personal time management and self-motivation, critical thinking, teaching/coaching/mentoring, and computer applications (e.g. Microsoft). Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, group facilitation, delegation, consulting, research and creativity.
•Ability to be self-directed, demonstrating initiative and ability to work with a high degree of independence;
Education skills and experience must be consistent with adult learning principles; Current Basic Life Support Instructor status considered an asset.
