The role
Contributes to the overall success of the Enterprise Crisis & Business Continuity Management (ECBM) function globally, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The Enterprise Crises & Business Continuity Management function works as part of the Bank's larger Operational Resilience function, providing direction for overall command and control for events that threaten or impact Scotiabank's operations. The Senior Manager, Business Intelligence, ECBCM will work closely with the Director, Enterprise Crisis, Business Intelligence & Business Continuity Risk to develop and implement effective, strategic, tactical, and operational insights that are key for informed decision making. They have an expert proficiency in data visualization and guided analytics, and possess a strong data architecture background in order to organize and transform data into meaningful insights. They are responsible for the entire Business Intelligence stack and development lifecycle - from data profiling and modeling to integration and dashboard creation - ensuring that information is both accessible and meaningful.

Oversee the day-to-day activities of the ECBCM Business Intelligence team.

Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Lead partnerships with relevant stakeholders across the Bank to understand business needs, data specifications and translate requirements into technical design and wireframe.

Collaborate with business partners to define and develop actionable KPIs/KRIs/metrics that align with strategic goals within Enterprise Crisis & Business Continuity Management.

Analyze and documents current and potential future state reporting capabilities and continuously champion improving the overall effectiveness of Crisis Management & Business Continuity business intelligence.

Continuously monitor the performance and usage of BI solutions, proactively address data discrepancies and issues, and provide ongoing education and training to end users.

Drive efficiency, streamline workflows, and enhance productivity by identifying and executing on opportunities for data and reporting automation and continuous improvement.

Act as team SME on ECBCM's datasets, business processes, and source systems.

Oversee the design and establishment of the Business Intelligence framework, including dashboard templates, design and data standards, code promotion process, security/access and version control.

Lead the ongoing sustainment of BI assets post-release including addressing bug fixes, new requirements/enhancements and/or data quality concerns.

Drive end-to-end process automation initiatives, leveraging tools such VBA, Macros, and workflow automation platforms. Identify bottlenecks, streamline workflows, and enhance operational efficiency through automated solutions.

Manage projects and initiatives that focus on the ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of the Enterprise Crisis & Business Continuity Management function, as needed.

Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing.

Demonstrated capabilities in managing and planning activities related to the development of intuitive business insights and analytics capabilities.

Flexible and creative thinker with the ability to define business tradeoffs, generate out-of-the-box solutions and manage uncertainty; proactively identify and solve complex problems impacting management and business direction.

Ability to prioritize against many competing interests in an environment of constant change.

Strong prioritizing, planning, analytical, presentation, project management, and relationship building skills.

Knowledge of SQL.

Expert knowledge of dimensional data modeling and BI semantic layer implementation.

Expert knowledge of data virtualization/logical data warehouse.

Intermediate knowledge of best practices in data visualization and UX.
