Definition of Work: Western Health is seeking a self-motivated, goal-oriented and engaging Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Community Health Team. The successful individual will be expected to function as a member of the Community Health Team working with Community Health Nurses, consultants and/or community partners. Areas of practice may include but is not limited to maternal, child and family health, school health, communicable disease control, environmental public health, public health emergency managements, health promotion and protection. The LPN will support improving the health of individuals in the western region through public health practice that is based on the principles of social justice, attention to human rights and equity, evidence informed policy and practice, and addressing the underlying determinants of health. The successful individual’s responsibilities will include nursing intervention to stable clients and documentation/record maintenance. Western Health supports the full Scope of Practice for LPNs; other duties within the LPN scope of practice may be required based on assessed need. Areas of practice may include but is not limited to maternal, child and family health, delivery of school health education, communicable disease control, environmental public health, public health emergency management, health promotion and protection.

Qualifications: Successful completion of High School and graduation from an approved Practical Nursing program are required. Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador including the ability to function at full scope of practice is also required. The incumbent must possess good communication skills as well as the ability to work at a significant degree of independence and initiative. A valid driver’s license is also required.
