About the Role
As a Decision Support Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting, developing, and provisioning robust data and information products and solutions as it relates to the diverse services and programs provided by the provincial health system, across the continuum of care.
More specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Work with stakeholders to understand and define workflows, business processes and information requirements.
- Provide subject matter expertise and collaborate with business, program and clinical managers to define and develop appropriate metrics, indicators, and performance measures.
- Provide advice and guidance in capturing, defining, validating, and interpreting diverse health system data.
- Acquire, import, and process and develop relational and dimensional data from a range of source systems and repositories for various uses to meet stakeholder information needs.
- Provide technical leadership for database design, development, maintenance, and administration which supports the data and information needs of a broad range of health system stakeholders.
- Support and maintain various analytic (e.g. SAS, SPSS), machine learning (e.g. Python, R), BI (e.g., PowerBI, Cognos, Crystal Reports) and database extract/transform/load (ETL) software applications.
- Design, build, implement, maintain, and support BI solutions (e.g., reports and dashboards, self-serve data access) that meet health system information needs.
- Prepare and provision data for use by various internal and external data user groups including integration of data with operational workflows and front-line systems.
- Educate and support end users of data and BI solutions including self-serve access to data and analytics/BI tools and environments.
- Provide subject matter expertise to support research, health system planning, performance, quality, and process improvement initiatives.
- Support data quality management by conducting data quality assessments and developing and executing action plans to address identified data quality issues in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform data management functions, metadata development and documentation.
- Support the development and maintenance of system and data user guides and other relevant documentation to support operations and end use of the data.
About You
Your education and experience include:
- Undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science) combined with a minimum of three years’ experience in the field of decision support, analytics, business intelligence, data management, database design/development or closely related healthcare field of work.
- Demonstrated experience would include, but is not limited to:
- Building, iterating, and validating data models in an Oracle or SQL server environment.
- Use and support of any of the major BI suites. (Microsoft PowerBI, Cognos, SAP Business Objects, etc.)
- Use and support of database query tools and technologies. (SQL, ETL, data marts, etc.)
- Working with health system stakeholders to understand and capture data and information requirements.
- Working with health-related data or information systems. (Meditech, CRMS, MIS, finance, EMR, pharmacy data, etc.)
