Summer Student Term Position - Halifax Campus

We are looking for dynamic individuals to be a part of our team at the Halifax Campus for the following position:
- Client Services Clerk in Social Work Department
All Positions Details:
Length of the term: 8 weeks - Part time positions
Number of hours: 70 hours bi-weekly (Varied Shifts - Days, Evenings)
Salary: $16.30 per hour
Start Date: June 13, 2025
End Date: August 7, 2025
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Grade 11 or higher
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act(1). , and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
- Must have an interest in working in Long Term Care
CLIENT SERVICES CLERK:
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Under the guidance of the Social Workers, the Client Services Clerk will:
- Assist with the admission and orientation of new residents and their family/friend caregivers, including the provisions of tours of the Halifax campus to new and prospective clients.
- Provide support to residents and/or families (supports and understands needs of people in transition).
- Complete administrative tasks such as requests for Dignified Living Funds and Overcost Fund Requests to Continuing Care.
- Assist with data entry for resident data management systems
- Accompany residents who require assistance for appointments
- Prepare lease agreements for new residents and assist with Lease signings as needed.
- Provide practical assistance to residents such as shopping for personal items.
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in, or recent completion of, post secondary education, with a preference for Social work training.
- Familiarity with the Long - Term Care placement process is an asset.
- Relevant experience in mental health geriatrics, dementia care, palliative care is recommended.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
- Knowledge or experience with a person-centered model of care is an asset.
- Experience with Point Click Care and Pathways computer programs is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis is required
