Director of Human Resources

PERMANENT FULL TIME

Queens Manor, a 61-bed long-term care facility located in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Human Resources professional to join its leadership team as Director of Human Resources. As a key member of the leadership team, reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Human Resources' primary role is to be a champion of our people, overseeing all elements of human resources that contribute to Queens Manor being a safe, rewarding, and desirable place of employment.

Responsibilities

The Director of Human Resources assumes the responsibility to:

· Build and maintain capacity within the Human Resources Department to enable effectiveness and efficiency in the areas of scheduling (all departments), payroll, recruitment, retention, employee onboarding, health and safety, education, pension and benefits administration, labour relations, and HR policy/procedures.

· Establishes ongoing recruitment (external/internal) strategies that strengthens all departments

· Develop innovative approaches to retaining talent

· Support and contribute to a health and safety culture through development of Return To Work Programs and effective management of Workers' Compensation Claims.

· Oversee labour relations (including collective bargaining) and assist other Directors with interpretation and application of relevant collective agreements and processes.

· Develop and implement Human Resource Policy and Procedures across all departments collaborating with Directors as required.

· Prepare and analyze HR metrics and provides reports (such as key performance indicators) that support decision making in all departments

· Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation.

· Oversee the full cycle payroll process.

· Administer employee benefits and pension plan.

· Collaborate with the Leadership Team to set and execute on the long term Human Resources vision and key directions/strategy for Queens Manor.

· Directly supervise Administrative Assistant (HR).

Qualifications

· Completion of formal education program in Human Resources (Certificate, Bachelors, or Masters)

· Minimum three years experience in an HR role preferred

· Thorough understanding of HR policies and procedures, and knowledge of Federal and Provincial regulations

· Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are essential. Ability to lead meetings and presentations, and ability to interface with all levels of staff with tact and diplomacy

· Must be a collaborative team player, possess a strong customer service orientation, and be a consultative problem solver

· Ability to advocate for both staff and management through a lens of psychological safety

· Highly proactive style of work, with a demonstrated track record of developing innovative approaches

· Strong organizational and analytical skills

· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
