What you will be doing…
- You will process various types of data and utilize a range of field equipment available at NSCC's Applied Geomatics Research Group (AGRG).
- You will develop and deploy web mapping packages using both ESRI Arc Server technology and Open Source solutions.
- You will publish both static and interactive maps on the web, linking relational databases to webmap services for graphing and map interaction.
- You will integrate external webmap services into webmap applications developed by AGRG.
- You will bring expertise and experience in vertical datum transformations and coastal flood assessment and visualization.
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a diploma in a related field or discipline specific to the nature of the research (i.e., IT or Application Development).
- You have a minimum of two years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in a research environment, which includes fieldwork.
- Knowledge in GIS, GNSS, remote sensing, and the development of web-mapping packages would be considered an asset.
- Occupational experience that includes utilizing ESRI Arc Server technology and Open Source solutions, as well as linking relational databases to webmap services for graphing and map interaction, would be considered an asset.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, email, Python, ESRI ArcPro, ESRI Map Server, Open Source Map Server, JavaScript, and other web-based programming languages.
- You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to advance your work.
