Manager, Health Care Services
The Manager, Health Care Services, is a critical team member of the Health Care Services Department and is responsible for the effective and efficient management of all internal services provided by the Health Care Services Department including support for external providers where Memorandums of Agreement are established. This position is also responsible for all administrative functions required in the day-to-day operations and collaboration with vendors, health care providers and other departments within WorkplaceNL.
Role Responsibilities
- Ensures the effective coordination of medical services to injured workers through special clinic and program arrangements, ensuring they are timely and responsive to clients' needs.
- Ensures services are delivered in a cost-efficient manner by monitoring and analyzing existing programs and services (e.g., special clinics, PFI assessments, interdisciplinary assessment program, etc.).
- Analyzes trends in health care costs and utilization and recommends changes and enhancements where appropriate. Identifies and implements health care cost containment strategies that focus on the provision of quality health care services that are outcome-focused and cost effective.
- Accountable for ensuring timely review of case management issues by professional Health Care Services staff and has autonomy in developing new procedures to ensure expedient response times.
- Ensures necessary coordination related to all MOA's and responds to inquiries related to issues that fall within the terms of the MOA's.
- Leads and co-lead projects and initiatives that enhance the provision of quality health care services to injured workers
- Participates in and coordinates the review and development of policies, procedures, and programs.
- Evaluates processes in collaboration with other departments and stakeholders to increase efficiency and the provision of quality health care to injured workers.
- Provides leadership to external consultants.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- University degree complemented by a minimum of five years' experience and responsibility in a worker's compensation setting.
- Experience and demonstrated ability in effectively managing people and projects.
- Understanding of the delivery of health care services in the province.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, along with the ability to work well within a team environment.
