The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Manager, IT Planning & Business Partnership, Ontario & Manitoba to join our IT Planning & Business Partnership team in Sudbury.

This is a permanent onsite position with travels between Manitoba & Sudbury

As a Manager, IT Planning & Business Partnership, Ontario & Manitoba, you will will serve as the crucial link between the ITOT function and the asset operations & maintenance (O&M), site technical services, capital & sustaining projects implementation, and supporting departments. This includes assets in Ontario & Manitoba. You will be immersed in the business, building deep relationships to understand business processes related to projects, production and logistics in our mines and processing plants. Your experience and skill will allow you to proactively build a multi-year ITOT and Data Strategy and an associated Roadmap that fits the needs of this business area. This strategy and roadmap will identify solutions to deliver value to operations through ITOT.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Build and maintain deep relationships and knowledge of the business, being embedded in the business to have a profound understanding of the business's strategy, roadmap, and pressing challenges.
  • Closely support to business process developments, optimization and transformation works, establishing the link with IT capabilities and solution as critical area to enable value realization, shaping and managing demand intake by working with the business to develop business cases and identifying the products and services that can assist the business areas with their needs.
  • Lead the Information & operational technology governance forum, hosting a recurring routine in collaboration with the asset leadership to review and prioritize ITOT initiatives and provide input into the overall ITOT Steering Committee governance forum, ensuring business accountability for decisions impacting technology and ensure ITOT initiatives receive the right level of support and sponsorship from the business.
  • Develop an Information & operational technology and data strategy and Roadmap for Operations covering the business needs in ERP, MES, PIMS, LIMS, Controls and Automation areas.
  • Oversee the delivery of IT in the region (including projects and support services), acting as the key interface point between the business and ITOT to ensure alignment and integration with the VBM ITOT strategic plan, architectural direction, and governance processes

About You

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Science or Engineering, ideally in Mining & Metals related fields.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years in heavy industries like Mining & Metals, Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Aerospace, Manufacturing
  • Experience managing information & operational technology relationship with the business with strong ability to build and maintain relationships.

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of business processes, and operations in Mining & Metals industry or similar heavy industries
  • Ability to build a multi-year technology roadmap, and secure sponsorship and support from all required stakeholders to approve funding and execution
  • Ability to align IT initiatives with business strategies and goals, ensuring IT delivers maximum value
  • Experience controlling all budget in the region from planning, forecast, and execution
  • Ability to ensure day-to-day ITOT support requirements are consistently met and any issues that arise are resolved in a timely, effective manner
  • Ability to ensure ITOT SLAs within the region meet the business' requirements
  • Creative problem solver, able to understand business strategy and needs and proactively identify solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively convey complex IT concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with value management and LEAN concepts / tools.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence at leadership level, as well as to engage with business process owners & delegates, business SME, and IT project managers & technical teams.
