A Synergy brand will help consumers find the brighter and better life they desire in proven and tangible ways. We are thrilled to partner with Synergy looking to bring a Controller to their team.
The Controller will play a key leadership role within the Finance team, overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting, and internal controls. This role is critical to the company's financial health and will help drive the company's growth strategy through accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis, and process optimization.
Responsibilities will include:
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes and ensure all transactions are recorded appropriately
- Develop, monitor, and update the company's financial plans, forecasts, and budgets.
- Collaborate with department heads to understand business needs and incorporate them into financial forecasts.
- Provide analysis and insights on variances between actual performance and budget/forecast.
- Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Partner with senior leadership in strategic planning and decision-making by providing financial insights and recommendations.
- Evaluate new business opportunities, investments, and strategic initiatives from a financial perspective.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns.
- Other related duties as required.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- CPA designation.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of accounting and financial management experience. 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles.
- Experience with consumer product sales and distribution channels (preferably in the health and wellness industry).
- Proven track record in financial planning, forecasting, and budget management.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and regulatory compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
