The Centre for Learning Futures supports a variety of learning opportunities ranging from Online academic programs and courses across a variety of disciplines to executive education, professional development and personal development opportunities. The Office of Experiential Education also operates within the Centre for Learning Futures Umbrella.

YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Associate Vice-Provost Learning Futures, the Director, Finance & Operations is a member of the executive management team. This position provides financial expertise, leadership and strategic direction within the Finance & Operations division and across all Learning Futures units. It is expected that this position will contribute to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all financial and People & Culture tasks.
- Support the creation of budgets within units that set obtainable and supported revenue targets.
- Ensure compliance with CRA regulations, UNB policies, procedures and reporting requirements while also meeting financial best practice and legal and ethical standards.
- Utilize financial dashboards and other communication options to optimize financial literacy across Learning Futures.
- Prepare draft budgets for unit discussion and approval.
- Conduct quarterly budget reviews and adjustments.
- Foster and maintain productive and beneficial working relationships with Unit leads, Business analyst and other University departments.
- Train and support Unit coordinators to support Unit Leads with budget oversight, policy compliance and budget management.
- Prepare financial data and relevant analyses in support of informed decision making and project assessment.
- Conduct monthly assessment of year-to-date revenue and expenses compared to budget as well as monthly year end forecasting.
- Prepare monthly variance reports and forecasts for the AVP and Unit leads for review and discussion.
- Execute contractual obligations including preparation of necessary financial reconciliation statements, invoices and reports for partners.
- Monitor and report carry forward, special projects, special funding opportunities and options to units.
- Act as Lead Resource for compliance, oversight and support of HR policies.
- Advise AVP and Unit Directors on compliance with staff collective agreements.
- Coordinate with Unit Directors, Leads and support staff in the coordination of recruitment activities and to ensure proper and complete on boarding of staff.
- Provide leadership to the Operations Units which include Client Services, Systems and Strategic Marketing, Sales and Communications.
- Manage performance within service units through support of team leads, managers and supervisors.
- Engage in regular consultation with Unit Leads to support development, implementation and assessment of strategic priorities.
- Lead strategic projects and priorities within the Finance & Admin division in support of the Centre of Learning Futures goals.
- Champion continuous improvement of administrative and financial processes.
- Other duties as requested.
WHAT YOU BRING
- An undergraduate degree in business, accounting or a related field 5 years of experience in a financial leadership position.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in budgeting, accounting and finance.
- Minimum of 3 years leadership experience developing and managing high performance project teams.
- Experience in data collection, analysis and reporting for decision making purposes.
- Familiarity with post-secondary environments and systems.
- Experience managing within a unionized environment
Additional Strengths:
- Master's Degree in Business or related field would be considered an asset.
- Professional accounting certification would be considered an asset.
- Proven performance in budget development, forecasting, financial analysis, forecasting and reporting
- Excellent communication skills.
