The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our Mechanical Maintenance and Maintenance Services Team in Long Harbour, NL. Relocation to the Province of Newfoundland & Labrador will be required for this role.
This is a permanent on-site position, working a 4x10s Monday to Thursday schedule at our Long Harbour Operations Site.
As a Maintenance Engineer you will be responsible for delivering improved asset performance by implementing and optimizing the reliability program for on-site technical maintenance support, engineering, screening/scoping, repair scopes of work and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Provides on-site, maintenance engineering technical support following a failure, in order to have assets returned to running condition as soon possible, with a reduced likelihood of a reoccurrence.
- Supports operations and execution teams to conduct Continuous Improvement Projects related to operating or maintaining assets and improving infrastructure. Makes recommendations for improving the repair cycles on assets. This includes applying existing engineered solutions or Vale engineering standards, upgrading materials and writing and developing procedures.
- Coordinates with Operations, Procurement, Maintenance, Central Engineering, Document Control, vendors and OEM's and others as required to solve problems and implement improvements.
- Supports stakeholders with troubleshooting complex problems and supports execution of maintenance shutdowns.
- Updates equipment operation and maintenance plans to optimize its life-cycle strategies and improve plant performance.
- Leads scoping, engineering and design, project management, and procurement efforts, leading various initiatives and improvement projects for Maintenance team.
About You
Education:
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree is required.
- Preference may be given to Mechanical Engineer.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation with PEGNL is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of Maintenance Engineering experience.
Skills:
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of codes, regulations, and specifications.
- Strong computer skills in SAP would be an asset.
- Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and time management skills.
