Tax Analyst
Fortis Inc. (FTS/NYSE: FTS) has an exciting opportunity to join its team in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador as a Tax Analyst.
We are inviting applications from individuals who can thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic workplace. Reporting to the Director, Treasury and Tax, the successful candidate will be an integral member of the Finance team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare Canadian and international tax compliance filings;
- Prepare monthly tax provisions and related working papers;
- Assist in tax planning, forecasting and research;
- Support in responding to audit queries;
- Gather and analyze data from subsidiaries;
- Update and maintain processes, controls, and documentation; and
- Other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles;
- Highly motivated, with the ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks;
- Ability to work independently and exercise judgment in performing duties; and
- Detail-orientated with excellent organizational skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce or Business with a concentration in accounting;
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and In-Depth Tax Program (IDTP) considered an asset;
- Practical experience working in corporate tax; and
- Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Office; advanced capability in MS Excel.
