Villa Saint-Joseph du Lac, located in Yarmouth NS, is home to 79 long-term care Residents. We are a
provincially funded, non-profit organization that provides 24/7 care. Villa Saint-Joseph has a
strong interprofessional team and a new facility (opened in 2015) which allows us to promote a
safe, clean, home-like environment for our Resident and care partners.
Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of cleaning duties for resident rooms,
common areas, as well as public and staff areas. The incumbent will be required to adhere to all
safety and sanitation rules and regulations and observe good sanitary practices including
maintaining equipment and work areas in a clean and tidy condition and reporting malfunctioning
equipment to the housekeeping manager. All responsibilities are to be approached in a spirit of
teamwork, within and among departments, to ensure cooperation and completion in an efficient
manner. The incumbent of this position is to work under the direction of the Mission Statement,
Values, Standards, Policies, Procedures and Resident-Centered Care Philosophy of the Villa Saint-
Joseph du Lac.
Qualifications:
• Capable of and willing to demonstrate empathy, understanding, respect, courtesy and politeness
towards all Residents, visitors and staff
• Physically capable of performing all duties
• Demonstrated ability to sew or be willing to obtain skill on own time
• Neat and clean in appearance
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding Resident affairs and Villa business at all
times
• Ability to maintain good attendance and varied availability
• Capable of functioning independently and as part of a team
• Available to work a variety of shifts including morning, afternoon, evening, weekends and
holidays
This is a unionized position and is bound by the CUPE Collective Agreement.
