Job SummaryThe Provincial Manager of Accreditation for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PLM) oversees the accreditation processes, governance, and quality management framework across the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PLM) program, which is consistent with NL Health Services' mission, vision, values, and strategic direction. This key leadership role ensures that laboratory operations comply with relevant accreditation standards and support evidence-based practices and healthcare excellence across all laboratories within NL Health Services.
The incumbent is accountable for the provincial oversight of the quality management teams within each zone, including the biosafety and point-of-care programs. As part of this provincial supporting structure, the Provincial Manager will maintain accreditation statuses, ensure effective implementation of policies and procedures, and collaborate with various stakeholders to promote continuous improvement across laboratory services. This position is crucial in aligning laboratory operations with national and international accreditation standards and promoting standardization of laboratory practices across NL Health Services.
The Provincial Manager of Accreditation for PLM reports directly to the Senior Provincial Director for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Maintaining a matrix reporting structure supporting the Zone Directors and Clinical Leadership throughout the PLM.
Job QualificationsEducationUndergraduate degree in a health-related field/program of study from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution is required.
Completion of a recognized/accredited Medical Laboratory Technology Program is required.
Current or eligible for registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals is required.
A Laboratory Quality Improvement/Management certificate course is required.
ExperienceMinimum of five years of recent experience within Laboratory Medicine is required.
Previous Management experience is required.
Experience in the development of orientation and education programs is required.
Experience with occupational health and safety inspections and directives is required.
Demonstrated experience within accreditation and quality management frameworks is required.
Experience in biosafety and training is required.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NAPE LX and HS Collective Agreements.
Strong knowledge of the Provincial Pathology and Laboratory Medicine program, including policies, directives and standards of practice.
Strong knowledge of accreditation standards, quality and safety standards, and industry regulations.
Demonstrated strong leadership skills and the ability to manage teams and mentor staff.
Demonstrated skills in the areas of change management, quality/process improvement, policy/procedure development, research, and evaluation.
Demonstrated strong communication, organization, facilitation, teaching, and project management/coordination skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
OtherCurrent and continuing certification with the NL Council of Health Professionals is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
