Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our Clerical team. Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Administrator, the Payroll Clerk must be a team player who can work independently and safely in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment. This is a term postion (15 to 18 months).

Responsibilities:

  • Entry and verification of payroll data for over 220 employees
  • Payroll reconciliations and reporting
  • Vacation and holiday entitlement calculations
  • Maintaining payroll files and confidential employee information
  • Answering employees' payroll inquiries
  • Assisting with income tax report preparations
  • Preparing ROE's as required

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline
  • Prior experience in payroll administration for a unionized workforce
  • Payroll Certification considered an asset
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Excel and Word)
  • Familiarity with payroll software programs

Skills/Competency Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and multi-tasking abilities
  • Solid time management skills and ability to work independently under pressure and deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis and ability to work on statutory holidays as required
  • In-depth understanding of payroll functions as they relate to collective agreement administration

Compensation: $30.53/hour per Collective Agreement.
