The Joint Economic Development Initiative (JEDI) is dedicated to supporting Indigenous peoples in reaching their full economic development potential through advocacy and networking. The JEDI team currently requires an Information Technology (IT) Coordinator.

This position provides project coordination and client services for JEDI's IT training projects to include client assessment, selection processes, coaching, and the coordination and monitoring of clients' post-training work placements. The role also contributes to project evaluation processes to ensure that evaluation data is collected and compiled in accordance with the project evaluation framework.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Engage with New Brunswick's Indigenous peoples and communities to provide information sessions on JEDI IT programs and industry opportunities.
  • Recruit and assess clients to determine eligibility to participate in IT training initiatives, commitment to desired career path, skill level and level of support required.
  • Develop individualized client action plans for training and employment.
  • Determine client eligibility for financial assistance in conjunction with JEDI's guidelines and hiring procedures.
  • Identify with clients potential barriers to training and/or employment and provide assistance to resolve barriers.
  • Facilitate and monitor work placements for clients.
  • Collaborate with industry and educational partners on curriculum development and industry certification requirements.
  • Establish and participate in a program Steering Committee.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from a post-secondary program in a related discipline (such as Computer Science, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Education) with a minimum of three years of experience in client support services and/or employment counselling. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of IT initiatives and industries, particularly Cybersecurity.
  • Certification in employment counselling is an asset.
  • Knowledge of First Nations communities, culture and social concerns. Preference will be given to qualified candidates of Indigenous descent.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Satisfactory criminal background/vulnerable sector clearance and maintenance are required.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel as required.
