Job SummaryReporting to the Manager of Central Staffing, this management support position is responsible for supervising, training and directing Staffing Officers, and provides guidance in problem solving. They also perform Staffing Officer duties when required.
The Administrative Officer I (AOI) prepares all master schedules and templates, according to collective agreement and guidelines, for Housekeeping, Nursing, Materials, Central Sterilization Room (CSR), Nutritional Services and the Staffing Office, including the development of summer and Christmas schedules. In addition, they revise schedules for all vacation periods and to accommodate orientation and/or education periods. They liaise with union members and managers to review guidelines and modify as necessary.
They are responsible for the planning, coordinating and deployment of staff for the above departments and work in consultation with the department managers for the effective and efficient utilization of staff. They also assist managers in responding to requests for leave, staff assignments/reassignments/deployment of staff based on qualification, orientation and experience.
The AOI is responsible for ensuring timely preparation, completion and accuracy of attendance and payroll. The AOI also assists Human Resources and management in the preparation of data collection and analysis surrounding grievances. The AOI works relatively independently, with a Human Resources Consultant available to provide advice and direction when needed. Other related duties as required.

Job Qualifications
Education
Completion of a recognized/approved three-year Business Management Program (HR Concentration preferred).
Courses and proficiency in MS Office, Internet and various other computer applications are required.
Experience
A minimum of three years' experience within the last five in a progressively responsible administrative role is required.
Experience with collective agreement administration and staff scheduling is required.
Considerable experience meeting deadlines, while maintaining a high level of productivity, accuracy and efficiency.
Experience in HR Technology, database management would be an asset.
