We are currently seeking an IT Linux Support Technician, working within a small IT team responsible for IT resources across multiple locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- The primary focus of this position is Linux Desktop support on a day-to-day basis. This will include setup, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of software and hardware including desktops, laptops and servers;
- Ensuring that IT services are provided at the expected and defined level, as well as providing ongoing IT support to all Nautel users. This ongoing support will include equipment provision, changes required, training experiences, communication, documentation and ad hoc requests;
- Dependent on the individual, the role may include maintenance of business software, systems and databases used within the Departments at Nautel. This will include liaison with business stakeholders and external providers, where applicable;
- Acting as an IT resource on business and IT specific projects as they arise;
- Tracking IT assets including licenses, computers, mobile devices, servers, switches, firewalls;
- Administering anti-virus systems and responding to malware threats discovered by these systems;
- Maintaining Linux distributions across Nautel, ensuring they remain secure and sage from compromise.
Individuals should have:
- A recognised IT Diploma with, ideally, some experience in an equivalent role, or over three years of equivalent experience;
- A knowledge of business processes and cross-functional dependencies;
- Knowledge of current Linux technologies including operating systems (distributions) and Linux compatible software;
- Knowledge of cloud computing, specific to Linux;
- Knowledge of switches, firewalls and access points would be an asset;
- Applicants must have the utmost discretion, ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity and ethical behavior;

- The ability to take initiative to proactively prioritize and solve problems as they occur;

The ability to obtain, and maintain, Controlled Goods clearance status (and potentially other clearances) immediately is a requirement for this role (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).
The ability to work on an on-call rota is a requirement of this role. Due to the nature of the role, ideally candidates will work out of the facility in Hackett's Cove (there may be an option for some type of hybrid arrangement).
