The team:
The Global Network Engineering – Design, Data Centre Build & Automation team is responsible for defining network evolution and maintaining technology standards and life cycle across the Bank's network verticals globally (Public Cloud, Data Centre, Campus & Branches including Network Security perimeter technologies). In collaboration with the architecture team, we are engaged in Proof of Concepts of new technologies, responsible for developing platform roadmaps and overall evolution of the IP Network. We provide end-to-end solution designs and work closely with all global regions to maintain/deploy common strategies and service methodologies. The team is engaged in all major projects and complex initiatives providing technical oversight, guidance, and/or deployment to ensure all standards and patterns are followed.

The role:
Reporting to the Director of Design, Data Center Build & Automation, you will play a critical part in defining and assisting the team in the deployment & support of various technologies within our Global Network.

  • You are eager to work with leading edge technologies to incorporate complex network solutions, as well as work with other technology teams to contribute to an overall solution.

  • You thrive on being hands-on during mid to complex project deployments into production. This includes the support of assigned systems by acting as an internal consultant and providing suggestions for viable solutions to systems problems of high complexity.

  • Develop network solution architecture standard documents, perform bug reviews, publish best practices standards documents, and maintain/manage close vendor relationship

  • Develop network technology roadmap, perform new network product evaluation (i.e. POC) and provide recommendation

  • Act as a consultant and subject matter expert for Global Network Engineering and support teams to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve network services

  • Understand Global Networks operation issues and customer challenges, advocate for their needs with cross-functional teams like architecture, application, and operation teams

  • Recognized as having advanced technical knowledge within network domains

  • You are interested in getting on the Cloud floor as the team gets more hands on with the network in the Public Cloud, including environments like Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure and IBM SoftLayer.

  • Enjoy working independently, creating best practices, recognizing patterns for improvement and championing for improvement, guided by policies, operating plans and priorities

  • Take pride in mentoring and training other teams/team members

  • You understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • You have at least 15+ years of technical working experience & knowledge on multi-vendor environments at an enterprise level, which include, but not limited to Cisco, Fortinet, F5, Infoblox and 7+ years in Public Cloud technologies/environments (Microsoft Azure & Google Cloud Platform preferred).

  • You possess a strong core foundation experience in On-prem & Cloud network technologies and protocols.

    • Cloud Networking - VNet/VPC, Routing (Regional, Global), Peering (Regional, Global, NCC), Connectivity (Expressroute, Interconnect, VPN)

    • Core Routing/Switching Technologies (Cisco N9K, ACI, ISR, ASR)

    • Security Technologies – Cisco Security/VPN, Firewalls (NSG, FW Tags, Fortinet, Cisco Firepower)

    • F5 NGINX, BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM) / Global Traffic Manager (GTM)

    • DNS - Azure, Google Infoblox, Private and Public zones

    • Protocols (BGP, OSPF, TCP/UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, etc.)

    • Troubleshooting (SIEM, flowlogs, activity logs, tcpdump, ping, etc.)

  • Practical design experience with Cloud Services, Virtual Machine (VM, GCE) Container platforms (AKS, GKE, OpenShift)

  • Proficient in CLI, Terraform, ARM Templates and Infrastructure as Code (IAC) tools. Powershell, BASH, Python scripting experience.

  • Deep understanding of network security best practices, including firewalls, Security Groups, and NACLs.

  • Cisco CCIE certification and at least one Cloud certification (Azure - AZ-700, AZ-305, AZ-500, GCP - PCSE, PCA, PCNE) or equivalent knowledge

  • You have strong communication (verbal/written) skills in English with ability to interact with various departments up to VP/Department head level. The same in Spanish would be an asset.

  • You possess superior problem solving and decision-making skills to resolve work issues with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.

  • Completion of a post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, Networking Technology or in a related field of study.
