Definition of Work:Heating, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics install, maintain, repair and overhaul residential central air conditioning systems, commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems and combined heating, ventilation and cooling systems. Will need to read and interpret blueprints, drawings or other specifications, measure and lay out reference points for installation and be responsible for assembly, installation, maintenance, and replacement of refrigeration or air conditioning components such as motors, controls, gauges, valves, circulating pumps, condensers, humidifiers, evaporators and compressors using hand and power tools. The candidate may also prepare work estimates and assist with General Maintenance as required. The position can be based at either James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, Gander, or Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, however travel throughout the Central Zone region will be required.

• Regularly lifts/moves object up to 25 lbs. Occasionally lifts/moves >50lbs. Push/Pulling forces up to 50lbsF are required.
• Work repetitively involves reaching/stretching, bending and twisting; regular standing, walking, climbing, and being in awkward or cramped positions.
• Use of gross and fine motor skills; constant use of hand tools that require accurate control and steadiness and maintaining physical balance (e.g. ladders/scaffolding).
• Work Environments present potential for exposure to scented/chemical products and/or other allergens within publicly accessible areas.
• Work environments can present exposure to loud noises or environmental hazards; potential for exposure to blood, bodily fluids and/or other contagion. Personal protective equipment is required for specific areas.
• Maintaining a clean-shaven face can be mandated to ensure proper seal of personal protective equipment.
Required qualifications:
• Successful completion of a Red Seal Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic program, or equivalency, as recognized by NL Health Services
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and apply diagnostic and troubleshooting skills as required to maintain operations of equipment and facility.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.

• A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
• A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience working in a health care environment.
