Superviser - Operations

Reporting to the MFG Manager, Operations & Work Execution, you will supervise, direct and co-ordinate the activities of all personnel engaged in Plant Operations at Muskrat Falls. You will maintain current knowledge of Loss Control Standards, System Standard Instructions, Work Protection Code, Corporate Policies and Procedures, and ensure they are adhered to by the employees of the Plant Operations Section. You will also be responsible for implementing, monitoring progress, and evaluating identified training programs; compiling shift schedules for all operating employees; preparing and submitting timesheets; checking and approving travel expense claims; and administering the Power Supply Collective Agreement as it applied to the staff of the Plant Operations Sections.

As Supervisor, Operations you will perform regular inspections of plant equipment, such as generating units and auxiliary equipment. You will identify, implement, and monitor running maintenance activities at Muskrat Falls Generation. You will also be responsible for preparing reports of equipment conditions, problems encountered, actions taken, etc. for the MFG Team Lead, Operations. You will develop and implement comprehensive Operating Instructions and Procedures and assist with preparation and control of the plant operating and capital budgets. You will perform other related duties as required.

You will work in accordance with the Health and Safety Policies & Procedures and strive to eliminate any potential risk that could result in personal injury or occupational illness. You will also be familiar with the Environmental Policy and Guiding Principles and applicable environmental Standard Operating Procedures.

Qualifications:

You have completed a three (3) year Mechanical or Electrical Technology Program (if Electrical, preferably with the Power/Industrial Controls option) or certification as an Industrial Electrician and completion of the Corporate Apprenticeship Program for Hydro Plant Operators. You have a minimum of six (6) years' experience in the operation and maintenance of Hydro plants. Preferably, three (3) of these years should be as an Operator in charge, and you should have experience in running maintenance, trend monitoring, and switching. You possess a valid driver's license and the ability to plan, organize and supervise in a highly technical environment. You have excellent oral and written communication skills, with a proven background in team building, decision making and leadership. You have a good working knowledge of computers and various corporate applications as necessary, including Microsoft suite applications, JD Edwards, maintenance programs, etc.
