We're seeking a Program Manager to be the heartbeat of our BTZx delivery team that is advancing the transition to net-zero buildings by accelerating action, building capacity and enabling conditions for success. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your building-sector experience into a leadership role and to build a network of like-minded professionals motivated to transform our built environment.

In this role, you will lead a team of project managers, trainers and consultants that is delivering multi-year programming that fosters collaboration, research, skills training, and resource sharing in the building sector. You will be equipping organizations and individuals with the knowledge, skills and tools they need to champion net-zero building initiatives.

About Us - Net Zero Atlantic and BTZx

At Net Zero Atlantic we lead applied research and contribute to projects that enable the transition of Atlantic Canada's energy system to a carbon-neutral future. As an independent non-profit organization, we achieve our mission and purpose through collaboration with academia, governments, the private sector, Indigenous Peoples, and NGOs.

Net Zero Atlantic is the secretariat for the Building to Zero Exchange (BTZx), providing leadership support and operational infrastructure as needed. BTZx is a coalition of stakeholders committed to building capacity for net-zero infrastructure. As a convener for the building sector, BTZx collaborates and connects with everyone through research, events, resource development, skills training, and communications. We work together as collective champions for the innovation, policy, business, and regulatory actions necessary to advance Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada's net-zero transition.

Responsabilités

About the Opportunity
In this full-time, permanent position, you will report to the Director, BTZx, and be responsible for:

  • Inspiring and coaching a collaborative team of project managers and trainers dedicated to transforming the building industry through innovative solutions.
  • Overseeing program planning and implementation, evaluation, and risk management of programs, services, research, policy development, training, and events that drive net-zero building initiatives.
  • Overseeing multi-million, multi-year projects, including tracking and reporting progress and financials to directors, project participants, funders, and stakeholders.
  • Managing requests for proposals, contracting, and funding agreements.
  • Collaborating with the Director to enhance BTZx's reputation as a trusted advisor, fostering superior communication and partnerships across sectors.
  • Advancing innovative approaches to greenhouse gas emissions reductions from buildings in alignment with the policy directions outlined by Municipal, Provincial, and Federal governments.
  • Identifying, developing, and growing revenue streams from a variety of sources.
  • Traveling to events across Atlantic Canada.
  • Contributing to activities that further Net Zero Atlantic's mandate, ensuring that our initiatives align with broader goals of sustainability and climate resilience.
Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, public administration, planning, architecture, engineering, construction management, or related field from a recognized post-secondary institution, or a relevant combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of the building sector demonstrated by experience working in the construction industry, housing development, building sciences, and/or sustainable building practices.
  • Successful delivery of simultaneous projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource planning, stakeholder management and risk management.
  • Proven experience leading teams, with a track record of fostering collaboration and coaching to achieve collective goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences and adapt teaching methods to engage individuals with varying levels of knowledge and different learning styles.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • A commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion, and collaboration within a team environment.
  • Possess a valid driver's licence.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated 5+ years of project and/or program management experience.
  • Prior leadership experience in a start-up environment.
  • Knowledge of the codes, standards, and policies governing construction in Nova Scotia.
  • Experience in collaborating with Indigenous organizations and equity-deserving groups.
