STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING
The Strategic Communications & Marketing (SCM) Office is responsible for directing all corporate communications through storytelling, media relations, marketing, branding, creative and digital media strategies across the university. The Strategic Communications & Marketing Office fits within the President's Office and reports to the President. The office oversees strategic communications and marketing policies, procedures, strategies and plans that advance the university's vision, mission and reputation. Members of the office work in close collaboration with other university units across both campuses to implement strategies, develop performance standards and monitor effectiveness of the strategies.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $48,900 - $66,646 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Coordinator's primary role is to facilitate the creation and delivery of various content and targeted communication pieces, primarily internal communications, while upholding established editorial standards. This position collaborates with internal colleagues and other stakeholders to help plan and coordinate university projects, events, announcements, initiatives and other strategic activities. They also play a key role in supporting the department's smooth running and administration.

  • Participate in project briefings and support project organization and integration using a structured planning and implementation tool.
  • Collaborate with institutional partners to gather necessary information to facilitate efficient and effective project progression.
  • Collaborate with internal team members in graphic design, media relations, writing and digital to facilitate efficient and effective project progression.
  • Provide reporting and analysis of projects and/or initiatives.
  • Coordinate the use of banners and other collateral for events.
  • Act as point person for the dissemination of SCM internal communications products, ensure processes guidelines are documented and maintained.
  • Coordinate the distribution of special announcement emails from the president's and other UNB offices to UNB staff, students and faculty.
  • Support the development and distribution of internal newsletter(s).
  • Oversee myUNB News Blog and manage SCM project submissions to myUNB news, work with UNB campus stakeholders to ensure submissions comply with usage guidelines, post and schedule daily emails, work with ITS to troubleshoot problems, ensure backups are in place for consistent staffing.
  • Oversee [email protected] email box.
  • Oversee event submissions.
  • Write, edit or proofread using established language and editorial guidelines.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the institutional Marketing and Communications (MAC) group, provide regular updates on SCM activities and new initiatives, help coordinate meetings and maintain MAC group contact list.
  • Maintain the SCM self-service SharePoint hub.
  • Maintain consistency or organization in the SCM project management system and SharePoint filing system.
  • Work with colleagues to find solutions for administrative processes for reporting, filing and organizing work.
  • Stay informed of marketing and communications industry developments to foster ideas and innovation.
  • Coordinate meetings, develop and share agendas and take the meeting notes.
  • Support the Manager of Institutional Communications with additional deliverables as needed.
  • Other duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post-secondary education focusing on marketing, communications, public relations, or other related fields.

  • 2 years of proven ability working in a communications team with strong customer service orientation and the ability to work effectively on cross-functional and virtual teams.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
