Who we are
Executive Council Office - Communications and Marketing division is seeking to create an inventory to fill current and future vacancies for results-oriented candidates to serve as Communications Officers within government departments.
Communications & Marketing is the professional body for all government communications in New Brunswick. Our aim is to deliver strategic communications and marketing that support government priorities and informs New Brunswick residents. Communications & Marketing works closely with key partners and stakeholders to ensure communications efforts across government are aligned with government priorities, effectively managed, and responsive to the diverse information needs of the public in both official languages
What you will do
Reporting to the Directors or Manager of Communications, the Communications Officer will:
- communicate, write, plan, organize and think in a fast-paced environment.
- play a key role in the planning, developing, and implementing various communications and media relations activities and initiatives.
- supporting the communications needs of government departments and mandates.
Specific duties include:
- writing communications materials,
- planning and arranging events, and
- media relations.
Work environment
- Office location: government department head offices, Fredericton
- Office layout: offices and cubicles
- Your Team: Communications & Markerting, Departmental Communications
- Mostly in-office work with the ability to work flex hours
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30

Who you are
You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to problem-solve creatively and think on your feet. The ability to work independently, be part of a professional team and manage multiple priorities. You possess strong writing and editing skills, familiarity with a broad range of communications tools and media, and the ability to develop and implement innovative and creative communications solutions involving traditional and digital media. You have good coordination, planning and organizing skills and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Education and Language
- Pay Band 3 - A university degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field with a minimum of one (1) year of related work experience or a two-year college diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or related field with two (2) years related work experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Pay Band 4 - A university degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field with a minimum of two (2) years of related work experience or a two-year college diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or related field with three (3) years related work experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Some positions require written and spoken competence in French and English. Others will require written and spoken competence in English or in French. Please state your language capability.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of government communications environment
- Experience in social media, web writing or content development
Wage
Pay Band 3 - $52,442 to $73,268 per year
Pay Band 4 - $57,616 to $80,574 per year
