Established in 1985, Petroservice evolved from rebuilding gas pumps to being one of the fastest growing Petroleum Service providers servicing clients from Alberta to Newfoundland. Our customers include owners and operators in retail fueling, including car washes, and commercial/industrial markets. Join our team as a student in our service, electrical, or construction department. This program provides an opportunity for hands-on learning through real-world projects, guided by experienced industry professionals. Our program is designed to bridge the gap between your academic studies and the workforce while helping you develop essential technical skills for your career.
This flexible 6-to-12-week program provides hands-on experience with petroleum and/or alternate fueling-related equipment (EV, Hydrogen, etc,) while offering a glimpse into a specialized and dynamic industry. With start dates available between May and September, successful participants may also have the opportunity to transition into full-time positions following the program.
Students must indicate in their application which department/ role they are interested in.
THE OPPORTUNITIES:
SERVICE
As a Service student, you will join a team that ensures the smooth operation of fueling-related equipment through regular maintenance and troubleshooting.
What You will Do:
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of petroleum and alternative fueling equipment such as dispensers, pumps, and automated systems.
- Gain hands-on experience with equipment decommissioning and reinstallation.
- Work closely with other Service Technicians to understand advanced systems, such as automatic tank gauges and point-of-sale devices.
CONSTRUCTION
As a Construction student, you will be part of a team responsible for assisting with a wide range of tank and piping installation and removal projects (both aboveground and underground).
What You will Do:
- Learn to operate construction tools like quick-cut saws, jackhammers, and towing trailers while adhering to safety protocols and road standards.
- Work alongside Project Managers and Construction Leads to execute repairs and upgrades, while ensuring all work meets industry regulations and certification standards. Learn about regulatory compliance and environmental considerations
- Collaborate on tank and piping systems (aboveground and underground) and perform site improvements, including upgrades to tank pads, concrete repairs, and spill container replacements.
ELECTRICAL
The Electrical role overlaps Service and Construction, allowing you to apply your technical skills in diverse ways.
What You will Do:
- In the Service Department, you will focus on diagnosing and repairing electrical components in equipment, ensuring optimal performance and troubleshooting issues efficiently.
- In the Construction Department, you will work on wiring new systems, installing EV Chargers, and integrating pumps and forecourt electronics into site designs.
- Across both, you will learn about electrical safety, compliance, and the role of electrical systems in petroleum fueling products.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within the past year) from a relevant technical program, such as electrical, construction, or mechanical studies.
- Strong interest in hands-on learning and technical skill development.
- Eagerness to adhere to safety guidelines and company policies.
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Be able to commit to the full duration of the placement, typically 6 to 12 weeks.
- Availability to work the required hours, which may vary depending on the program.
- Must be able to complete required pre-employment assessments such as but not limited to criminal record check, drug screen, and driver's abstract.
