Duties The successful applicant will be responsible for the Management of Facilities Operations and Maintenance, Equipment Maintenance, Capital Planning and Project Management and the development of a Capital Infrastructure Renewal Program. Reporting to the Regional Director, Physical Infrastructure Support and working in collaboration with managers in all program areas, the candidate will provide leadership and supervision to a team of facilities staff, developing policies and procedures for the implementation of an effective routine and Preventative Maintenance Program. The successful candidate will provide Mechanical Engineering and Energy Performance support to the regional Support Services Managers and staff at all Western Health facilities.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution. Candidates possessing bachelor’s degrees in other fields who, in addition to this, possess a diploma in an engineering discipline will also be considered. A combination of work experience with mechanical & electrical systems and/or education may be considered. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate considerable experience in leadership positions, preferably in the area of Facilities Management. A working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package including Excel, Project, Power Point, Word and Teams as well as Autocad would be an asset. A strong knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management and Building Automation systems would also be an asset. Alternate combinations of qualifications may be considered. In the event no suitable candidate is found with the above noted qualifications, consideration may be given to applicants who do not currently possess a bachelor’s degree, provided they are willing to complete same within five years of appointment to the position. In this case, the successful applicant must be prepared to demonstrate proof of registration/enrollment to an appropriate degree program within the first year of appointment to the position. Furthermore, the successful applicant is required to provide annual updates based on the progress of each semester of the program.
