What you will be doing…
- You will be accountable for the provision of specialized skills in the acquiring, supporting, preventative maintenance, repair and purchasing of equipment for the Trades and Transportation departments at the Campus.
- Under the direction of the Trades & Transportation Academic Chairs, you will be responsible to troubleshoot, repair and install equipment and accessories located in the shops and to maintain equipment and shops to a high standard of hygiene and safety following the 5S+S standard.
- Developing, maintaining and documenting preventative maintenance for equipment will be key in this position.
- The incumbent will assist faculty with the supervision of students working in the shops as required, demonstration of equipment operation/Safe Work Procedures and support the learning environment.
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary diploma in Machining, Electromechanical Technician, Industrial Mechanic interprovincial Red Seal or related. Training in WHMIS, NS Occupational Health and Safety regulations would be considered an asset.
- You have a minimum of five years of recent and related occupational experience in managing Preventative Maintenance Plans/Equipment History Logs, repairing equipment, specifying and installing equipment. Candidates with a combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
- Hazard Identification, lock out / tag out (LOTO), Standard First Aid, Forklift certification, Respiratory Awareness, Confined Space, and Fall Protection would be considered an asset.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail and Excel.
- You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology, and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
- Experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation would be considered an asset.
- Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.
