Magee Jewellers & Designers is a locally owned and operated jewellery studio located in the beautiful city of Fredericton, New Brunswick. We specialize in custom jewellery design, custom upcycling, restoration, and expert repairs. Our state-of-the-art studio is dedicated to creating unique, high-quality pieces while preserving sentimental treasures through meticulous restoration. We are looking for a talented, creative, and skilled Goldsmith to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in jewellery craftsmanship and a passion for precision and artistry. In addition to their expertise at the bench, they should value trustworthiness, transparency, and compassion, as these qualities are vital to our commitment to excellence and customer care. A great goldsmith will also possess strong attention to detail, patience, and a steady hand to execute intricate work with precision. Creativity and problem-solving skills are key when designing or restoring unique pieces, while adaptability and a willingness to learn ensure continued growth in the craft. Excellent time management, the ability to work independently, and being a team player are also important for success in this role.

The ideal goldsmith will have a strong ability to work with all fine metals, including gold, platinum, and silver, demonstrating expertise in each material. An excellent stone setter is essential, with the ability to work meticulously and with precision. Our ideal candidate will be skilled in all stages of custom design, from casting to finishing and stone setting, ensuring every piece meets the highest standards. Additionally, they will be experienced in jewellery repair, capable of handling a wide variety of repair scenarios each day, providing quality craftsmanship across a diverse range of tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency in stone setting, including diamonds and precious stones, with experience working with various shapes, gemstones, and claw styles.
  • Expertise in completing custom-designed jewellery pieces, from prepping the piece to setting stones and performing final polishing.
  • Confidence in working with platinum, gold, and silver metals, ensuring the highest quality craftsmanship across all materials.
  • Experience in jewellery repair, including ring sizing, rhodium plating, chain repair, re-tipping claws, re-shanking rings, tightening stones, and other advanced restoration work.
  • Ability to conduct maintenance checkups on rings, including inspections, cleaning, and polishing.

Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized, and motivated, with the ability to maintain a well-kept goldsmith studio.
  • Capable of working independently, managing time effectively, and meeting deadlines while taking initiative.
  • Education, experience, and training in working with high-end custom-designed jewellery, with two to five years of experience.
  • Experience working with a laser welder.
  • Consistently maintaining a high level of care and attention to detail across all tasks.
  • Professional work ethic, with an exceptional understanding of customer service.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
