Definition of work:This position will report to the Provincial Director, Practice Improvement and is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of practice initiatives (including, but may not be limited to program development such as; Nursing Mentorship) that support NLHS Provincial Clinical Practice and the organizations strategic direction. Utilizing the Provincial Clinical Practice Framework, best practice guidelines, and in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the incumbent will implement action plans and facilitate the collection of feedback that supports programs such as Mentorship and program effectiveness. Liaising with program leaders, the incumbent will establish relationships that supports the implementation of practice improvement initiatives. The incumbent serves as a resource for managers, mentors, and mentees that are engaged in NLHS Nursing Mentorship Program and other similar practice improvement initiatives. Facilitating staff engagement and the required education development and rollout, the incumbent also supports program enhancements and is a lead in the (Mentorship) Community of Practice. The incumbent will require an understanding of change management principles and demonstrate financial stewardship as it relates to funding allocations. The incumbent will support policy development and implementation for nursing mentorship and additional practice initiatives, providing detail to the organization relating to mentorship and leading practices.
The successful candidate will be committed to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements. Travel and a flexible work schedule may be required within the position.
Required qualifications:
• Undergraduate Degree Nursing
• Masters Level Degree
• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
• Three to five years nursing leadership experience.
• Proven experience in partnership development, program planning and evaluation, project management and leading quality/change initiatives
• Ability to collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and function effectively in a high pressure, diverse and changing environment.
• Demonstrated understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements within nursing practice.
• Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of Lean Health Care; Person and Family Centered Care; and the leadership capabilities within the LEADS framework
• Class 05 driver’s license and the ability to travel.
• Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE)
• A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
• A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
