BIOVECTRA Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.

BIOVECTRA Inc. has an opening for a Senior Controls and Instrumentation Technician. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Charlottetown, PEI.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing and maintaining calibration program in a qualified state.
  • Participating in the calibration maintenance program ensuring minimal plant downtime.
  • Performing calibration and instrument non conformances, risk assessments and RCA's.
  • Aiding in planning and scheduling of calibration and instrument activities.
  • Continuous Improvement of PM and PDM programs and RCM
  • Assisting Automation Specialist with instrumentation & controls issues & projects.
  • Installing and maintaining instrumentation/electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshooting process control system.
  • Assisting in programing PLC to correct system issues.
  • Assisting in troubleshooting and correcting operational/maintenance issues.
  • Maintaining IO, motor lists and any other documentation as required for efficient system operation.
  • Assisting in pricing equipment and consumables for capital equipment.

The successful candidate for this position should have:

  • Trade Certificate as Electrical Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Electronics technician.
  • Red seal instrument technician or engineering degree in instrumentation
  • CET or industrial electrician would be an asset.
  • Five years' experience in an industrial environment as a controls and instrumentation technician.
  • Strong PLC programming skills would be an asset.
  • Experience in GMP or pharmaceutical industries is an asset.
  • Experience supervising/leading a group of instrument techs
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Self-motivated team player.
  • Ability to work shift work, overtime and respond to call ins as required.
  • Heavy lifting is required.

Starting hourly rate is based on experience: $29.00 (84 hr biweekly shiftwork)
