The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Procurement Analyst to join our team in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely.

You will be responsible for providing junior level support in purchasing materials, equipment and services for operations and projects implementations, aiming to assure the supply of items for business continuity, at the lowest total cost of ownership possible, achieving industry best practice standards of delivery time and quality of products and services.

Additionally, as Procurement Analyst, you will,

  • Plan purchases, define supply terms, and strategies while preparing competitive bids and evaluating proposals based on value analysis and total cost of ownership.
  • Negotiate and manage commercial contracts, ensuring documentation control and legal compliance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on materials and service purchase planning using market analysis and consumption history.
  • Execute sourcing plans for technical purchases in alignment with company timelines and supplier facilities understanding.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation plans for potential supplier issues, maintaining relationships and monitoring supplier performance.
  • Assure continuous supply of goods and services through contract management, performance monitoring, and supplier synergy meetings.

About You

Education:

  • Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma preferred in Business related discipline (example Commerce, Engineering/Certified Engineering technologist, Legal).
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) certification is an asset.

Experience:

  • 1-5 years progressive experience in related roles (Vale or external) is preferred. Such roles might include Buyers, procurement officers, contract administrators, category managers, etc.
  • Experiences should include knowledge with workplace monitoring and sampling techniques, data collection, analyses and reporting and a working understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook), Access, Adobe, Internet, and knowledge of Vale procurement systems including SAP.
  • Understanding of supply chain management and inventory methodologies and principles, with knowledge of Mining, Milling, and Refining processes related to procurement and warehouse operations.
  • Effective communication skills with the business/suppliers, alongside strong negotiation and project management abilities.
  • Problem-solving skills and data entry accuracy.
