The Treasury Risk Management group provides independent risk oversight of the Bank's liquidity and collateral risks, structural balance sheet risks, transfer pricing, and hedging and investing strategies executed by Group Treasury and other treasury units.

The Senior Manager, Liquidity Risk supports the independent risk oversight functions within TRM. The Senior Manager is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of an appropriate risk management framework, including risk appetite, metrics, policies, and methodology; effectively monitoring the Bank's Liquidity risk; and providing high-quality insights on the Bank's Liquidity risk profile to senior management and the Board of Directors, as appropriate.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Demonstrate effective Second Line challenge of First Line (Group Treasury) on Liquidity risk, including Intraday and Collateral Management.
  • Support the annual policy, limits, and methodology reviews, and present reviews to decision makers, mainly the Treasury Risk Oversight Committee (TROC).
  • Provide ongoing second line review and challenge on Parameter setting & measurement.
  • Acting in an effective challenge role, seek opportunities for the Bank to align FTP and Liquidity measurement more effectively, and identify gaps to be closed for TROC & ALCO.
  • Assist in setting risk appetite, developing, implementing, and maintaining limit structure, assessing ongoing compliance, and reporting to the Board of Directors.
  • Support ongoing independent review.
    • Assess adequacy & effectiveness of processes.
    • Provide a grade assessment of each component of the process to the TROC & ALCO at least annually.
  • Function as a subject matter expert within Global Risk Management for Liquidity Risk.
  • Provide advice and counsel to international subsidiaries on the Bank's Liquidity risk management activities.
  • Support and contribute to the development of a high-performance team of engaged risk professionals and managers. Play a leadership role in sourcing and onboarding talented new recruits with high potential. Continually look to develop team members through offering diverse roles, coaching and supporting them in enhancing their subject matter expertise and soft skills, and suggesting involvement in special project work.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Masters degree or equivalent in Finance or a related discipline, MBA or CFA or FRM preferred.
  • At least 3 years experience in bank Treasury or Capital Markets or Risk Management.
  • Practical knowledge of a broad range of capital markets and deposit products.
  • Expertise on Canadian market conventions and regulatory expectations.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid data analytics and visualization skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationship building and collaboration skills.
