Job Summary
This is a professional psychology position which operates under the clinical direction of registered psychologists within the Adult Rehabilitation, Palliative Care and Geriatrics Program of NL Health Services, a tertiary healthcare environment. This position is responsible for the provision of independent psychometric assessment services as well as effective oral and written interpretation/communication of assessment results. The application of psychological knowledge and skill is used in administering, scoring, and interpreting a wide variety of comprehensive psychometric tests.

This service provides adult neuropsychological assessment and treatment to patients with neurological and other physical disabilities to aid in the facilitation of their rehabilitation. Caseload assignment will be coordinated by the Psychology service and will include both inpatients and outpatients.

This position reports to the Division Manager for Adult Rehabilitation, Palliative Care and Geriatrics Rehabilitation Day Services and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Psychology for professional integrity and practice issues.

Job Demands

Occasionally, there is lifting or physical strength required, less than 10 lbs.
Regularly sits, occasionally works in awkward/cramped positions, stands to facilitate or teach groups.
Fine finger/precision work when on the computer and visual concentration is required when in sessions with patients (i.e. reviewing patient charts/notes, tests and for documenting work, and when reading or researching information).
Auditory concentration is required in sessions with patients to listen attentively, to be alert and to obtain and interpret information correctly. A higher-than-normal level of attentiveness is required when assessing high risk patients.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized master's degree in Psychology with major course work in the administration, scoring and interpretation of psychological psychometric tests is required.
Experience in assessing adults with mental health issues, physical disabilities and cognitive impairments would be an asset.
Possessed a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with Psychologists, co-workers, and clients.
Ability to establish positive working relationships with clients, their families, and other members of the interprofessional team.
Demonstrated effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
Ability to apply psychological/psychometric tests.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
