Role

Contributes to the overall success of Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets' (GBM) implementation and coordination of marketing programs and initiatives to support deepening client relationships and driving revenue growth, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Leads implementation of institutional communication tools for approved GBM Ambassadors (spokesperson) to ensure ongoing compliance with regulations that govern social media communications including LinkedIn and other social media channels.
  • Conducts regulatory oversight, specifically marketing supervision, in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, including Series 24 review and approval, CIRO, and internal policies and procedures to detect and/or prevent violations. Including, but not limited to:
  • Reviews marketing materials such as disclosure documents, brochures, disclaimers, agreements/terms, and conditions.
  • Liaises with Compliance, Internal Controls, and other areas of the Bank to develop policies and procedures and ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements to keep the Bank safe.
  • Monitors all social media for GBM to ensure company Ambassadors are complying with the social media policies.
  • Tests and monitors controls related to marketing supervision, such as social media, titles and designations use, and email signatures.
  • Approves all posts and communications to ensure compliance with Series 24, CIRO and any other governing bodies.
  • Develops and maintains recordkeeping for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Contributes to GBM's LinkedIn channel by supporting the creation and development of LinkedIn posts.
  • Contributes to GBM website by supporting ongoing translations and accessibility requirements.
  • Provides event support and logistics for various GBM-related events.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • University degree with Major in Marketing, with 7+ years' experience in a marketing management role.
  • Must have a FINRA Series 24 license and CIRO, CSC, CPH
  • Incumbent must be considered an expert in his/her field and provide credible advice and counsel to business line management (VP and higher) as it relates to marketing communications.
  • Broad knowledge of financial markets and compliance regulations and requirements.
  • Spanish language skills an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong persuasion and negotiating skills, to build constructive, supported solutions and obtain co-operation and support from stakeholders and senior management and cost-effective deliverables from agencies and third-party vendors.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with senior management teams across Global Marketing, Internal Controls, Legal and Compliance, business lines, and external partners and vendors.
  • Strong co-ordination, strategic influencing and people management skills, to facilitate strong teamwork and coordinated execution of multiple deliverables.
  • Detailed understanding of capital markets products/services and online media and the use of technology in marketing.
  • The incumbent must demonstrate significant maturity and credibility in dealing with executives, and must be able to work on a highly independent basis.


Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
  • The incumbent works in a standard office environment with no unusual risk of injury or ill health from physical or environmental factors. The position is primarily non-physical.
  • Occasional travel – for meetings and presentations.
  • Frequent ad-hoc requests from senior officers for information and status of initiatives.
