The Town of Pasadena is located on the shores of Deer Lake in the Humber Valley on the West Coast of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Town formerly consisted of three (3) separate communities: South Brook, Pasadena, and Midland.

We are looking for a Regional Municipal Enforcement Officer to join our team!

About the Role

The Regional Municipal Enforcement Officer plays a critical role in maintaining community safety, harmony, and compliance with local bylaws and regulations. This position involves proactive community engagement, investigation of complaints, and the impartial enforcement of municipal standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, diplomacy, and the capability to manage conflicts effectively. The Officer serves as an approachable representative of the municipality, committed to fostering positive community relationships while ensuring regulations are respected and upheld. The Officer will be employed by the Town of Pasadena and provide services to area municipalities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol designated areas to ensure compliance with municipal bylaws
  • Investigate and address community concerns, including issues related to waste management, noise disturbances, property maintenance, and parking infractions
  • Issue citations and enforce parking and bylaw infractions professionally and fairly
  • Educate the public about municipal regulations and promote voluntary compliance
  • Collaborate with community and policing stakeholders to proactively address and mitigate potential issues
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of enforcement actions and investigations
  • Draft and recommend new and updated bylaws
  • Other duties as assiged

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of handling sensitive situations tactfully
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflicts and apply regulations consistently and equitably
  • Valid driver's license
  • Post secondary diploma or degree
  • Prior experience in law enforcement in a municipal setting, regulatory compliance, or a related field is preferred
  • Provide and maintain a clear vulnerable sector check
