Senior Financial Analyst, Major Projects

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is offering a challenging and exciting opportunity to join our team. Working in a creative, fast-paced environment, you'll be part of transforming the future of the province's energy sector. Our long term plan includes an ambitious capital program to rebuild, renew and replace portions of our installed asset base.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and stewardship of operational budgets and forecasts. This activity will require the incumbent to utilize effective leadership and communication skills to coordinate activities with a diverse team and in a fast paced and changing environment.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Develop and continually assess Major Project and corporate business processes to reflect their adequacy to support both the changing corporate operating environment and the fast paced and fluid Major Project environment;
• Participate in or lead the development and maintenance of tools for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and analysis of key business metrics, including unique matrices that may only apply to Major Projects;
• Participate in or lead the development of policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of financial systems, including corporate and Major Project specific systems, is maintained;
• Be a leader in the Major Projects department in implementing industry best practices, such as Earned Value reporting;
• Develop, deliver and coordinate training strategies for staff, resulting from changes to business systems practices or processes;
• Provide formalized training and mentorship to team members on excel and other financial systems used within Hydro;

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 8 years' experience in a senior financial role, with an emphasis on data analysis, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting. Major Project experience would be an asset.
• University degree with an Accounting designation or equivalent combination of education, training and experience maybe considered
• Demonstrate leadership skills, work independently and in a team environment.
• Coordinate complex tasks and develop and execute plans to achieve results.
• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
