The Human Resources department at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Accessibility, Health & Wellness Advisor.
The Accessibility, Health & Wellness Advisor is a new position for MSVU and reports to the Director of Human Resources. The Advisor will build relationships and work to meaningfully connect employee health and well-being with our organizational goals. This role will champion and lead important wellness and accessibility work, develop strategies to promote employee health and wellness, and collaborate with internal and external partners.
The Advisor will work closely with the Pension & Benefits Coordinator to identify and promote services and tools from our benefits providers that support health and wellness. They will also be a resource for the university's Benefit Users Committee.
This role is responsible to oversee attendance management, and to administer sick leave absences (including long term disability), workplace injury incidents, and return to work agreements. The Advisor will work with employees, managers, and third-party providers as necessary. The Advisor will champion the University's Workplace Accommodation Policy, working with employees and managers on accommodation needs as they arise, ensuring compliance with applicable collective agreements and best practices.
The Advisor's work will support the university's initiatives to ensure compliance with the NS Accessibility Act and Access by Design 2030 framework.
We encourage you to apply if you have an undergraduate degree in a related field along with at least 3 years of HR generalist experience in a unionized environment. An appropriate combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience administering an attendance management program and working with employees to review and implement workplace accommodations is required. Involvement with workplace accessibility is desired.
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to make employees feel heard. The ability to remain up-to-date and adhere to policies and legislation is important in this role and would be valuable experience to have. We are looking for someone who is organized, and has an aptitude for creating communications that catch people's attention. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and have an aptitude for, or previous experience, using business enterprise systems such as Colleague and SharePoint.
Classification: Full-Time MPA Level 3 Position
Salary: $58,295 per annum [Step Progression: $58,295 to $70,925]
