Overview

Under the supervision of the Manager of Facility Operations, the Fitness Centre Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Fitness Center at the Saputo Center. Their duties include conducting regular floor checks, managing the procurement and upkeep of fitness equipment, and assisting other department staff with purchasing departmental supplies and equipment. They ensure exceptional customer service for Fitness Center patrons and oversee the recruitment, training, and scheduling of part-time student staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily active supervision of fitness centre and provide excellent customer service for community and student members
  • Coordinate facility opening and closing procedures along with daily operational procedures
  • Provide guidance on policy, procedure and risk management
  • Develop and coordinate marketing and communication material for the fitness centre related to web, email, print media and other communication channels to successfully promote programs, membership and activities to students and the community
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of the Fitness Centre budget
  • Supervise and guide personal training staffs as needed
  • Monitor and maintain quality of fitness programs
  • Interview, hire and train fitness personnel on their job duties
  • Manage payroll processing and performance review for fitness staff
  • Provide introduction sessions and arrange tours for first-time customers
  • Respond to customer complaints and questions promptly and professionally
  • Coordinate with fitness staffs on timely development and execution of fitness programs
  • Weekend and evening work required

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a field relevant to the position (e.g., Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field)
  • Two (2) years) of experience in similar position
  • Minimum two years' experience working in a fitness centre
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Conflict resolution, budgeting and marketing
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Extensive computer skills: word processing, spreadsheet and database experience
  • Ability to multitask
