About Air Borealis

  • 12 destinations within Labrador, Nain, Hopedale, Postville, Makkovik, Rigolet Happy Valley - Goose Bay, Black Tickle, Cartwright, Charlottetown, Mary's Harbour, Port Hope Simpson, and St. Lewis.
  • Charter destinations to various fishing camps within Labrador, to the Torngat Mountains National Park, wildlife survey work with our Inuit partners, as well as to various locations amongst Innu Lands with our Innu Partners for their annual Outpost Program.
  • 11 Fleet of Twin Otter aircrafts.
  • Base location in Happy Valley - Goose Bay, NL

Based in Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, Air Borealis is looking for a General Manger with considerable experience in overseeing the accountability of a large complex operation, adept at motivating a team of aviation professionals, and confident in dealing with community and business leaders in Labrador. Comfortable in a leadership position while equally maintaining a willingness to learn from those around them, candidates should be both accustomed to delivering in high-pressure situations and conscious of the high profile associated with this position in the region.

The General Manager must be a skilled communicator who can effectively communicate and influence internal and external stakeholders. With a persistent focus on continuous improvement, the General Manager must be able to establish goals, objectives and constantly measure performance to foster continued growth and to make positive impact on our operation's success and with the communities we are privileged to serve. We are seeking a General Manager that leads by example, exemplifying integrity, professionalism, motivated to achieve results with strong business acumen. Specific duties and responsibilities of this leadership role includes:

  • Oversee and lead the continual evaluation and improvements of the commercial operation through direct control over the day-to-day operation, budgetary items and overall strategies while maximizing revenues and ensuring superior overall performance.
  • Accountable for ensuring financial performance and process of commercial activity.
  • Analyze fundamental systems to enhance any necessary improvements.
  • Develop and implement procedures and policies to ensure exceptional service, and superior overall performance.
  • Providing oversight on project and program management within Air Borealis, from inception to completion.
  • Leading the development and implementation of new business strategies that create or improve processes and partnerships.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to a diverse group of team members of Business Development, Sales, Charter Operation and Commercial Operation.
  • Researching and participating in industry associations and events to tell the Air Borealis story and establish new relationships.
  • Creating and delivering high-level progress reports to the core executive team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other qualifications for this role include:

  • Bachelor's degrees in business or related program or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • A minimum of 5 years aviation experience in an airline or airport setting is an asset.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years' people leadership and operations management experience.
  • Excellent networking skills, recognizing the importance of building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced complex environment.
  • Proven experience in managing RFP processes, identifying new opportunities, and motivating a team to execute.
  • Exceptional communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team to deliver exemplary customer service.
  • The ability to travel as required.
